At-home Microneedling 101

What is microneedling?

Microneedling involves using tiny, fine needles to penetrate the skin’s surface. Its purpose is to stimulate the skin’s natural healing response, which can help improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of scars, fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks. It is also known to promote collagen production, which gives the skin a firmer, smoother and rejuvenated appearance.

What needle size can I use?

There can be up to 4 different lengths used in microneedling, however, we recommend using a 0.3mm roller at home as this only treats the very top layer of the skin, making it safe for at-home use.

Any needle length above 0.5mm penetrates into the deeper layers of the skin and is considered an advanced treatment. This must only be carried out by skincare professionals.

How can I microneedle at home?

  1. Prep skin in the evening by thoroughly cleansing to ensure all makeup and skincare has been removed.
  1. Apply our 4D Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum, specially formulated for microneedling, all over the face and gently pat in.
  1. Starting at the jawline, gentle roll horizontally, vertically and diagonally over each area 5-10 times including cheeks, forehead, neck and smile lines, avoiding the eye area. Apply 4D Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum after rolling each area.
  1. For your morning cleanse, use our Micellar Cleansing Water, specially formulated to be used after microneedling as a gentle cleanser to help soothe and calm the skin. Follow with our 4D Hyaluronic Acid + B5 Serum all over the face and neck, then apply our Ultra Defence Hydrator SPF50 to protect and hydrate.
  1. To sanitise the roller, rinse under warm water, then pour isopropyl alcohol (or similar) in a dish and soak the roller for 60 minutes. Rinse with warm running water for 30 seconds and let it dry on a clean surface or towel.
